Holocaust Center of Northern California (HCNC) is a nonprofit agency that supports a 15,000-volume scholarly library and extensive educational programs, especially for classes of high school students, which visit the facility.  Design challenge was to convert a low-ceilinged windowless basement room into a humane working environment for staff and visitors.  Becca Foster (lighting design) and Sherry Morse (interiors) were critical collaborators.  (Photo: David Wakely)
