Warehouse conversion to office

Mid-Market Street, San Francisco CA

An internet mail order business bought this warehouse on a rough mid-market block in 1999 with their software development partner.  Interior improvements had 3 main aims: 1) maximize light penetration into building, which has windows only on front; 2) create secure environment, recognizing frequent late night work hours; 3) employ design vocabulary that is highly sympathetic to existing brick and timber materials.  (Photo: David Wakely)
