The lobby of a small (7-story) hotel had not been touched since present owner acquired it in 1952.† He asked us to improve it and specified no budget limitations, so we were able to employ mirror illusions (only one quadrant of the light fixture is real, the other two are reflections) and a rich palette of figured marbles and birdseye maple, all on a custom-loomed carpet that reflects the planís skew design.† James Dixon (project architect) contributed significantly to the design.† (Photo: David Wakely)
