Interior image of flexible lounge area

Library/Education space

Lower Pacific Heights, San Francisco CA

To preserve flexibility, moveable furniture elements (chairs, tables, bookcases, display cabinets) were used to define areas such as this reading lounge.  A severe pre-existing flutter echo problem was cured with the installation of perforated, insulation-stuffed, wood ceiling panels, which were cut to non-standard lengths to avoid the expense of relocating existing obstructions such as sprinkler heads, fire alarm strobes, etc. (Photo: David Wakely)
