The height of the dot-com boom saw many strange businesses born. “Petopia” marketed pet products online. Their corporate culture emphasized bringing pets (usually, but not always, dogs) to work, so we included a dog park in the layout—about 300 square feet, with Astroturf over a sheet metal floor pan, sloped to drain—plus a giant aviary. Wainscot and trim were specified paint grade, but when the wood was installed it looked great, so we changed the finish to just a clear coat. (Photo: D Wakely) |
